Due to some of our whānau changing roles and relocating we have two positions here at Whiti Ora Tairāwhiti working with our Manawakura team in our approach to Healthy Active Learning. The roles are both 1.0FTE.
We’re after someone who has a good understanding of our communities throughout our region and a passion for getting our kids active. We need someone that appreciates the dynamics of our primary schools and kura, and has the creativity to weave movement and play into the curriculum.
Your knowledge of our taiao and commitment to te ao Māori will ultimately help the holistic development and growth of our tamariki. And your ability to adapt and work alongside our wider Whiti Ora Tairāwhiti team to get our people moving will be out the gate!
So, what does the mahi look like?
- Create cool stuff, then get out of the way
- Bring people together
- Support the leaders in our primary schools & kura.
- And then help where you can to get their culture pumping
- Listen to whānau from our communities
- Help make connections for our kura and primary schools
- Celebrate our kai in our region
All we really need is someone who is straight up, trustworthy and keen to get our people here in Te Tairāwhiti pumping! We’re after someone with a really cool vibe!
So, what might your day-to-day mahi look like?
Most days you’ll be out with our Manawakura team gathering insights from primary schools or kura you’re working with, other times you may need to be out in the community connecting with people and just being a part of all the kaupapa that happen in our region. You may even want to head up the coast to catch up with our team up there. You may even be a part of that team. Either way, kanohi ki te kanohi is always best.
Some days you might be expected to lead a project around physical movement and other days you’re having a kōrero with principals or teachers. You might want to model a Ki o Rahi session, discuss our approach to kai with kaiako or talk to whānau about our holistic approach to tamariki. At the end of the day, it’s about the relationships and connections we make.
Our Manawakura team meet when we can. Our face to face hui can be a little difficult at times due to some of our team living and working on the coast. But we make it work. Working as a team happens often, but at times you may need to get out there and do things on your own.
You’re not in the office much, but when you are you’ll be designing, creating, and communicating with anyone who can help you make an impact. Our staff hui happens every month and that’s always a good time to catch up with everyone from the wider team. We’re all connected in the office, so if you’re stuck, just ask our team, they’ll help you. We do have some great employee benefits as well.
Basically, we’re about connecting people within our region and through our values we work hard to create an active and healthy culture. We’re flexible with how we work and ultimately, how you do all of this in your day-to-day mahi is done with the utmost of trust from everyone.
