Bowel Cancer diagnosis packs purchased as a result of Titirangi Challenge fundraising

From 2018, Bowel Cancer sufferers in Tairāwhiti will each receive a kete of gas vouchers and specialist information, to provide support in their time of need. The initiative, driven by Fiona Shivnan, was made possible by the generous donations of participants in the 2017 Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge. Whiti Ora Events Advisor Debbie Hutchings says, “we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Titirangi Challenge community. Their donations have made a truly special initiative possible.”

Significant contributions were made by Gisborne Pak N’ Save, and Ovation, which drove the total funds raised close to $5,000.

Each kete will contain $250 in petrol vouchers, to assist in the expensive travel costs for patients travelling for treatment, as well as a range of support resources for both the patient and their whānau, created by The Cancer Society.

At the start of this year, we asked you how we could improve the Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge, and you gave us a heap of great ideas, many of which led this year to being the biggest and best yet. We’d like to ask you once again how we could improve the challenge, in hope that we can improve even further for next year.

At the end of the survey, you can order your customised certificate!

Well done to you all

We made it! Congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge, pushed themselves and achieved their own goals. We have heard countless inspiring stories throughout the challenge and to say that we’re sad it’s finishing is an understatement.

We broke every record in the book over the last seven weeks. Over 1,400 of you joined 200 teams, and together climbed 1.6 million vertical metres. 191 of you have made it to Everest, double that of past years.

Thank you for making this the greatest Titirangi Mt. Everest Challenge yet. Enjoy the rest this week, and we’ll see you Sunday, at the Quarter Marathon and Fun Run.
