Amanda Roe

She grew up in the mountains of West Virginia before spending 20 years in Portland, Oregon. In 2020, she and her husband Mike (a Gizzy local) made the big move back with their two kids to be closer to whānau.

A qualified doctor since 2006, she’s also trained in nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and exercise physiology, with over a decade in holistic healthcare and midwifery under her belt. She is new to Whiti Ora Tairāwhiti but is already bringing her passion and energy to the team.

She’s all about women’s health, equitable access to healthy choices, and being out in the great outdoors. When she’s not running trails or training with SOL Fitness, you’ll find her ocean swimming, exploring reefs with her tamariki, or enjoying kai from the whenua and maara.

Her ‘why’? To connect with whānau and community in meaningful ways, and to uplift herself and others through body literacy and knowledge.

Peter Ifopo

Born and raised in West Auckland, Peter spent most of his adult life in South Auckland before making the move to Gisborne with his wife.

Peter is bringing his dedication to his new role, driven by a desire to give back to the community. A volunteer firefighter in Patutahi and a former teacher aide at Te Kura o Patutahi, he’s passionate about helping people find their spark again and getting back into a healthy, active space where they can enjoy life to the fullest.

A proud Canberra Raiders supporter, Peter balances his passion for service with a strong commitment to family, his greatest motivation and his “why.” His parents, wife, kids, and grandkids keep him grounded (and occasionally test him!) while grounding him and showing him that life is beautiful in different lenses.

To stay active, you’ll find him at WhānauFit most mornings, hitting Anytime Fitness when he’s in town, walking the Kaiti Hill tracks, or taking on challenges like the Whiti Ora Everest Challenge and Saturday Park Runs.
